Ask the Chef



Experienced chefs will share insights, advice and ideas from their experience serving groups of all kinds under myriad circumstances. Half the time will be reserved for participants’ questions, which can be submitted in advance and/or live during the webcast.



Myk Banas, Director of Culinary, Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center

Myk Banas has more than 25 years of culinary experience, including 23 years with Marriott International. Before joining Gaylord Opryland in 2016, where he oversees a team of 250, he served as executive chef at the Chicago Marriott Downtown; he has also served in that role at the Chicago Marriott O’Hare, the St. Louis Marriott Downtown and the Atlanta Marriott Century Center. He is a past recipient of Marriott’s Award of Culinary Excellence and went on to be named Marriott’s Award of Culinary Excellence Global Chef of the Year in 2015. Chef Banas studied at Joliet Junior College and the Culinary Institute of America.

William Becker, Director, Culinary Operations, the Flamingo, The LINQ and The Cromwell Hotels and Casinos

William Becker began his culinary career while in high school as a dishwasher in a coffee shop in Southern California. A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, he worked as the banquet chef for the Century Plaza in Los Angeles, followed by stints at properties in Las Vegas, Singapore, France, Indonesia and Hong Kong. He returned to Las Vegas as director of culinary operations for the Rio Hotel and Casino, a Caesars Entertainment Hotel. In 2004, chef Becker was elected captain of the Las Vegas Culinary Team and competed in the Erfurt, Germany, Culinary Olympics, where he was awarded three silver medals. He subsequently served as vice president of culinary operations for Paris, Bally’s and Caesars Palace. He currently serves as the director of culinary operations for the Flamingo, The LINQ and The Cromwell Hotels and Casinos, all Caesars Entertainment properties based in Las Vegas
